Pinocchio, eager to reap his fortune, followed the crafty Fox and Cat. They claimed that if they waited too long, it would be too late to harvest the gold. "Another day will be too late," said the Fox. "The field has been bought by a rich gentleman and beginning tomorrow, nobody will be allowed to sow money there."
Pinocchio went on to the field with his two companions and proceeded to plant his coins. They instructed him to leave the field and go back into town, and return later to harvest his new crop. Pinocchio follwed their orders and returned later only to find that no tree with coins buds had sprouted, and was told by a laughing parrot that he has been duped into losing his money. "I'm laughing at those dodoes who believe all kinds of nonsense and let themselves be tricked by anyone who is more cunning than they are."
He returned to the town to report the robbery of his coins, but ended up in jail. By a turn of luck, he was released shortly after his incarceration. He tried to return to the fairy's house in order to tell her the good news.
